MPI is a method used to detect surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials. It works by magnetising the part and applying magnetic particles that highlight any discontinuities or cracks.

The Dry Method is ideal for field inspections and detecting larger defects, while the Wet Fluorescent Method provides higher sensitivity for smaller cracks and is often used in controlled environments or laboratories.
